ALUMINIUM THERMOELECTRIC COOLERs WITH HOLES
The aluminum thermoelectric coolers with holes are related to our special 1MA10 TEC Series. The key features of these TECs are the use of aluminum plates instead of traditional ceramics and the presence of two elastic layers inside to withstand long-term temperature cycling without TEC fail or performance drop. Center hole TEC versions are optimized for devices sealed in TO-style headers, like TO-5/TO-39, TO-37, TO-8 and TO-66. Special types like 1MA10-213-xxH4 have 4 holes and are designed for "external cooling" of various LD in industry standard 14pin "Butterfly" type packages.
The 1MA10 Series was designed originally for temperature cycling. The thermoelectric modules in this series have been tested to withstand over one million heating/cooling cycles, and the temperature cycling rate is 3-4 times faster than standard ceramic TECs with the same dimensions. Aluminum thermoelectric coolers with holes are perfect for cooling and temperature stabilization of sealed laser diodes, LEDs, SLEDs, various optical components. In reliability testing equipment such TE modules can replace expensive equipment (like special temperature chambers), simplify and speed up temperature cycling.
The use of aluminum in thermoelectric cooler construction greatly expands the possibilities for modifying and optimizing TECs for final applications. The ability to machine TEC plates makes it possible to turn the cold and hot sides of the TEC into complete customer design elements. It is possible to simplify and optimize final thermal design, remove unnecessary mounting elements, and even add fasteners directly to the TEC plates.
