Starting from 2013, TEC Microsystems GmbH provides complete analysis, development and manufacturing of thermoelectric modules for Small Scale Energy Harvesting.


The existing experience and advanced technologies allow manufacturing efficient miniature thermoelectric generators for small-scale energy harvesting projects. Miniature thermoelectric generators harvest waste heat and convert it to usable output DC power. Small and high heat-to-power conversion ratios make thermoelectric micro-generators perfect to power stand-alone wireless sensors, wireless sensor networks, or wearable devices. Miniature thermoelectric generators provide battery-free, long-lifetime and maintenance-free power supply solutions for many application areas.





Thermoelectric harvesting is considered a key component for many modern and potential future technological applications, like wireless sensor networks, multi-purpose self-organizing autonomous (micro-)systems, Industry 4.0+ components and others. There are several key features and advantages of thermoelectric micro-generators: small sizes, simple scalability, construction with no moving parts and very long operational lifetime – tens of years without maintenance. And the unique property – the possibility to convert heat into electricity from very low-temperature differences, just a few degrees.  Such temperature differences are naturally present in many everyday things and environmental conditions around us, from the human body's heat to natural temperature fluctuations in soil or water within 24 hours.

With existing achievements and high-performance bulk technology thermoelectric materials, each couple inside the thermoelectric module generates 400uV/K, almost twice more than widely advertised thin-film technology thermoelectric generators.


It's possible to create tiny thermoelectric generators to provide milliwatts of electrical power from just a few degrees of the temperature difference and up to several watts at a higher dT level. The latest thermoelectric modules assembly technology achievements allow manufacturing micro-generators as thin as 0.6 - 0.7mm by height.
