The 2MDX10 2-stage thermoelectric coolers are the largest among all our 2MDX types. The combination of series and parallel connection between elements inside TEC allows the number of BiTe pellets in the top stage to be increased and the cold side of TEC to be expanded. Compared to standard types, 2MDX10 thermoelectric coolers have double the number of BiTe pellets in the top stage and higher mechanical endurance of the TEC. The balanced stage coefficient is achieved by adjusting the height of the pellets. This method allows to extend the cold side of TEC, increase the mechanical strength of the TEC second stage with more pellets, and maintain optimal cooling performance without increasing current or voltage. 2MDX thermoelectric coolers are designed with a focus on detector applications with high TEC cold side requirements.
All TEC 2MDX10 are assembled using RoHS compliant Sn-Sb solder (Tmelt=230ºC) and meet the requirements of the Telcordia GR-486 standard. Two-stage
TE Coolers
The standout feature of our 2MDX thermoelectric coolers is their unique shape. Unlike many standard multi-stage TE coolers that have a pyramid shape, all our 2MDX TECs have the same dimensions for the cold and hot sides. In fact, these TECs resemble a cube with identical sizes for the top, bottom, and middle plates. This cube shape allows for flexible configurations, whether you want to stack multiple TECs in series, parallel, or a combination of both. With the 2MDX TEC, you have the freedom to create the desired cold side area for larger objects while still enjoying the performance advantages of a 2-stage thermoelectric cooler. For those starting with our entry-level 2MDX TEC types, you can order them separately and assemble them into a stack later. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can specify and order a TEC stack configuration with all the thermoelectric coolers already connected. And for even more customization, the TEC stack can be custom-made on a single hot side ceramic plate at the main level.
